Hook - October 2025

Our October visit took us all the way to Hook, where we were given an excellent guided tour by our local historian, Nick Maslin. What Nick doesn’t know about Hook, isn’t worth knowing! We started our tour at the White Hart, who provided complimentary coffee to see us on our way. The White Hart itself is a very interesting building, with a rich history. The tour finished at the White Hart, where we had an excellent lunch.

From there we walked down the A30 towards Sainsburys, where we looked at some of Hook’s oldest buildings:

The Forge and Lees Farm

Old Raven House is a Grade 11 listed building, dating back to the 16th century. It was converted to a care home some years ago.

St John’s church was originally built in the 1930s and has undergone several extensions over the years.

The Pilgrims is the home of Nick & Wendy Maslin and they treated us to a view of their back garden, where there were 2 models of the house – one as it is now and one as it would have been when first built. These models were made by Nick and were absolutely fascinating.
