Intermediate group
This group is suited to those at the beginning of learning Italian, may have some ‘holiday Italian’ or tried an online course. However, it is not for absolute beginners.
- For those who enjoy going to Italy and wish they could speak more than a few words to the Italians in their own language
- For anyone who would like to be less reliant on tour guides, or feel more confident about exploring Italy away from the crowds
- For those that want to use an additional language and keep their minds active
- For those that love the lyrical qualities of the Italian language
Our experienced Italian teacher provides a varied programme of activities with an emphasis is on speaking, rather than writing, so be prepared to get your mouth (and your hands) moving!
The atmosphere is relaxed and informal with an emphasis on enjoyment.

Advanced group
We have a small but enthusiastic ‘fluent in the Italian language’ conversation group who meet in a member's home. They also meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at the earlier time of 10.30 to 11.30am.
The group exercise and polish their Italian language skills by chatting about what they have been doing and discussing other topics that have caught their interest. They extend their vocabularly etc., by reading short stories and using a fun, 'Coffee Break', in an Italian book. There is no cost for this group as the member who hosts, kindly supplies coffee etc!
